Rio de Janeiro

Last August I had the opportunity to go visit one of the most beautiful cities I've ever been to - Rio de Janeiro. It felt incredibly surreal. I never imagined I'd be so lucky as to be able to visit all these amazing places in one year. When my amazing mother asked me if I wanted to come with her on her business trip to Rio, I did not think twice.

If there was anything I'm really sure of, that would be my love for traveling and taking pictures. Yes I did have my reservations about going to Rio nearing the trip with everything that was going on over there. All over media I saw news about kidnappings, unrests, et cetera. But I thought, if the company that was taking my mom was so confident about it, why shouldn't I be?

And it indeed was the right decision to go. In 5 days, we managed to squeeze in some Olympics games, sightseeing, picture taking, and one cheeky visit to a local Sunday market near the hotel we were staying at.

The city was absolutely beautiful. Needless to say I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. As it was technically winter in Brazil, the weather could get a bit unfriendly from time to time - heavy wind and rain on some days - but it was nothing to complain about. If winter was like that everywhere, I doubt that seasonal affective disorder would even be a thing! It was still quite warm - the lowest temperature when I was there was around 15/16 degrees Celcius.

But not only was I impressed with the scenic beauty of the city, their overwhelming amount of street art also drew my attention. I saw graffitis all over the city, and they were simply stunning. I guess to say that Brazilians are creative would be a little bit of an understatement.

I did feel like 5 days was not enough, but all good things come to an end. This trip has inspired me to create new designs for my prints using the pictures I took during my stay. Check out my new stuff here! I really hope you like them as much as I do! And I'm already thinking about coming back to Rio one day...
